AVPEA's 2025 Veteran’s Parade Float Contest

We have much need and wish to make this event a community celebration honoring our Veterans past and present. It's our goal with this contest to bring community together and teach our K-12 how to honor our Veterans, while helping to raise up leaders while saying Thank You to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedoms.

The Veteran's Float Contest is open to anyone to join, as there will be different brackets for individuals and groups to compete for the best float.

Best Kid's Float

Requirements:

Float be honoring to our community, our Veterans, American History, our Constitution and the American Flag.
No political party stance, this is to be about community coming together not agendas.
Businesses/Clubs can have their business logo and message supporting our Veterans on float.
Your group will be highly encouraged to participate in a training, consisting of watching videos ensuring proper etiquette for the parade and our mission. The way we best honor our Veterans is to ensure we understand their culture.
Float must be safe for participants to ride if they are on the float, and be attached to a vehicle safely on a vehicle or other transportation that can safely, without hiccups make it through the entire parade.
Floats will be displayed following the parade at a specific location (still TBD) for people to check out and vote. And awards will be awarded at that place & time.
Must provide insurance for your float.

Partner with us to make this an event one to remember and to ensure the vision of this event is a success and can continue through the years to come. We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Bringing together the generation’s of Anacortes with an opportunity to be creative in celebrating our Veterans. Participation Agreement

I understand that this is an application to participate in the parade and participate in the Veterans Float Contest and agree to the rules upon participation approval. I am not guaranteed a spot in the parade until approved by committee. I also understand that this parade is to honor our Veterans and is family friendly. I understand that I am responsible for the insurance of our float and vehicle. *Rules and participation requirements will be sent directly to approved participants. We are so excited for the opportunity this will create for our community and youth to partake in this event in honoring our Veterans and community.

Honoring by Theme?

We believe in making education fun. What more fun way to our Veterans and learning our history then focusing a theme or topic in our history. It isn't required, but this can definitely help win points in the float contest. We would love to hear and see what your group comes up with in tribute to our Veterans. American Conflicts & Wars in our Military History. To ensure that we have a float for each time period/conflict.
